Jun 07, 2011 · Just recently my iMac (nearly 3 years old) keeps losing connection to the internet. It happens in both safari and firefox, but not in Mail. However when streaming live radio or downloading files from rapidshare in safari the connection does not drop and the stream/download continues despite the browser not being able to open web pages.

See, I am not sure if it's SMB or not since it loses connection to the server completely after a while (not just drop the SMB connection). However, it could stem from that process, I just haven't figured it out. I may try mapping with CIFS instead and see if that helps. I just need to get into the machine today to do live testing.
